One of the biggest failures of online businesses and internet marketers is how we have taken to handling our existing customers. Too many people spend too much time working solely on trying to acquire new customers, when it’s proven, the existing customers pays out more than the new one.

Use easy to answer questions that don’t push for any answer. A number rubric for answers works especially well and makes it quite easy for calculating statistics too. However if you only want to know about how you are doing with your customers you may not need to hire a third party or go through the work of disguising your questions.
Instead, it can be a well manicure marketing technique to incorporate a survey in with a promotional offer. With this technique you are killing a few birds with one stone. Opening with a marketing phrase along the lines of… ‘I Want to Make Sure I’m Making You Happy. Help Me Help You.’ After offer a promotion item for free for taking the time to answer a few questions to ‘ensure I’m doing my job.’ Give away a low level product or an informational product and on the back end use it to market up sells.
Here you are building trust with your customers. By caring about what they want they believe more that you care about them. Also, you are gaining priceless information on how to better market future products. And finally, you are setting up a good technique for selling an existing product.
You really can’t run an extremely successful business without working to obtain ongoing customer feedback. It is your customers who make you successful.
