Home Based Business: How To Overcome The Fear of Starting Something New
Fear is the natural boundaries of our comfort zone! Realizing this is an eye opener. To think where I am at is my comfort zone and where I want to be is what I fear is not comforting. The reward of success is fear. Well not really! What I have to do to get there is what I am fearful. Writing this article, contacting strangers, strangers contacting me, helping people to dream and helping their dreams to become real are all fears. These are the tasks that must be done to develop a successful home based business.
Yet, I can talk all day about the cars, the homes, the boats, planes and the travel that will result if I become accomplished at those things I fear. So what is stopping me? Failure. Not just failure but the fear of failure. As long it is a dream I can dream it. But if I try for it I might not get it, I fail. People will know I failed. That failure is unbearable. Yet, if I try for it I may not get it but I am certain to get more than I have now. If I don’t try, I will never get it. Well maybe lady luck will walk my way, or maybe I can hit the lottery. I am not ready to let my life be governed solely by chance. While I may buy a lottery ticket here and there, I am developing a home based business to assure my success.
Some years ago I took flying lessons! Every stage of the lessons from inspecting the plane to solo was fearful. As I was taught and practiced at each level the fear went away. It was the teaching, exposure and knowing that sent the fear away.
The same is true of writing this article, cold calling and helping people live their dreams! As I am exposed to these tasks, practiced these task, these task becomes more familiar and expertise builds. If I let fear rule me, I would be the same as I was before I wrote this article. Not knowing that it could be done, boxed in the boundaries of my comfort zone, just wondering and dreaming about what could be! Not knowing if a successful home based business could be mine is not an option I choose.
So join me and take the first step! The second one will follow and third one will be a lot easier then the first. Success come just one step at a time.
