How to Reduce Attrition in MLM

One of the biggest problems in building an MLM is attrition. Many people who join a company quit in three months or less. What can be done to reduce this and to retain more people in a downline?

The first is to be more selective in who joins. The best distributors are those who are coachable, self starters, and have a great attitude.

What strengths does the prospect have? Are they ambitious? Do they have good people skills and are they reliable? Do they have any MLM experience? A good prospect is someone who is looking for a home business, but your best one is someone who has been in the industry.

Those are characteristics you are looking for. You will know most of the strengths and weakness of people you know, but you will need to find that out from leads you have generated or bought yourself.

A good question to ask someone is what books are they reading on self improvement. Anyone who is truly serious about wanting a better life for themselves should be able to name one for you. That right there is a big clue as to whether or not your prospect will be successful, if they have the right mindset.

Another good thing to remember is the best thing you can do for your downline is to lead by example. Keep doing on a daily basis what you need to do to move your business forward, such as advertising, talking to prospects and following up with them, and the right ones will follow you. We cannot motivate others. The motivation has to come from within.

Your time will be much better spent looking for self starters and do-ers rather than try and turn people into them, which is impossible to do in any case without their own personal conviction to do so.
