MLM Recruiting – Do You Lead With The Product or Opportunity?
MLM Recruiting – Do You Lead With The Product or Opportunity?
The topic in MLM recruiting of leading with the product or the opportunity has been debated heavily over the years. Each argument has many valid points. There really is no absolute right or wrong answer. People have been successful each way.
The point of the question is you have to decide what you are leading with. You can build your business either way but the type of business you build will differ greatly.
When I first started my MLM recruiting I led with the product. This is what my up line taught me so I followed. The product is fantastic and one of a kind so I really thought it would be easy. Easy is not exactly how it turned out.
My product was a nutritional supplement. When I led with the product people expected me to be a medical doctor. They wanted to know if it helped this ailment or if it would cure their sickness. It really became a nightmare of trying to assure them that it was a wellness product to improve overall health. None could know the answers they wanted. You would have to have a crystal ball to do that anyway.
After each prospect started on the product I would let them know more about the business opportunity. This is where they got kind of weird. Apparently none of them had any wants or needs that were unmet that a business opportunity could help. And, for sure no one wanted to sell anything!
To tell you the truth my efforts were not a total failure. Sure none of those product users grew a business. But, most of them still consume the products today and love them.
The moral of my story is that if you lead with your product you will probably at least get some customers. If you get lucky someone might want to build a business as well. My conclusion is that leading with the product means much slower growth in your business.
Since that learning experience I have switched gears to leading with the business. What I have found is incredible. People who are looking for a business want to be successful. They strive to be successful. They are more like minded to me. Isn’t that who we want to work with someone who thinks like us?
The old analogy really applies to this principle……
If I had $100.00 cash in one hand and $100.00 of product or services in the other hand which would you pick? The money is the obvious choice. Money is potential and product is just product.
Leading with the opportunity leads to faster growth in your MLM recruiting efforts. Though leading with the opportunity is not without its faults either. Your business will grow faster but your attrition rate will be higher. The opportunity seekers that are dreamers only looking for an easy buck will weed themselves out.
Honestly both ways work and it is a personal preference. The least you can do is test it out and see what one reaps you the best results then focus on that. To learn more about MLM recruiting click on the link in the resource box for more information.
