Myth: everyone you tell will think it is so great and just join.
You should know that you will be met with some rejection. This rejection will be greater if you decide to hit up your family and friends first. It is important to realize that everyone is at a different stage in their life so do not try to push your business on those that do not show any interest.
You can cut down your rejection greatly if you take some time and learn about marketing. This will help you generate targeted prospects that are looking for what you have. They will not reject you like your family and friend’s will.
Myth: it is easy to build a MLM network marketing business part-time.
So many new people are sold on the idea that you just need to get three who get three and then you are set for life. This could not be further from the truth. You must adjust your mindset to that of a business owner. If you want to build a business part-time you should set at least 15-20 hours aside per week to work your business. Most of these hours should be spent on prospecting.
You might as well get a prospecting system because if you want to be in business for the long haul you will always have to prospect. Your business will rely on this constant growth and so will your income. Unfortunately the attrition rate in network marketing is very high. You have to plan on this and keep adding fresh leaders to the mix.
This business is like any other business. You will have ups and downs. As long as you commit yourself for the long haul you will come out ahead. It is critical that you also commit to continuous learning. When something does not work learn from the experience and move on. If you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results you are living the definition of insanity!
