With that many results, you can rest assured that you are going to find several innovative products and quality services being offered by experienced marketers. In the initial stages of building a successful home based business; you should take advantage of the experiences of your MLM upline team. That experience will enable you to become highly skilled and very well trained in a short period of time.

So what is it like when you venture into the new world of multi-level marketing?

Opportunities – Several MLM companies have centered their opportunity on the sales of nutritional supplements and skincare. These are often the top products because they’re consumable and customers will usually need to re-order monthly. This creates recurring monthly income through the direct sales to customers and residual income when you sponsor other distributors to do the same.

Scams – As in any industry, you will find a number of MLM companies that not legitimate. A typical MLM scam is when you have a distributor make claims that they are making a lot of money from selling the products. Pay the fee for signing up and you to could be making a lot of money with the product. Only, the product is not what anybody is selling. As a new distributor, you are now telling others that if they pay the sign up fee, they will be making the big bucks. And so the process continues. There is actually no sale of any product. Just the sale of the scam.

Research – Before venturing into the MLM world, you can check them out to see who you’re dealing with. If XYZ company states that they’ve been in business for over 10 years, check them out. You can find out how long a company has been around in minutes. For example, check out when the company’s domain name was registered with any domain registrar. You may find out that the company has only been in business for 10 weeks, not ten years.

A lot of talented, success driven people have given MLM the cold shoulder due to the bad apples. When you take the time to understand MLM, you can see that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It has its ups and downs just like any other business model. Is it right for you?
